Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Mohamed Helmi brings decades of experience caring for patients across the full spectrum of pulmonary disease. He earned his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine before completing his Internal Medicine internship, residency, and serving as Chief Medical Resident at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He then completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Throughout his career, Dr. Helmi has practiced in Wisconsin and Florida and has provided pulmonary and critical care through Locum Tenens assignments across the country.
Dr. Helmi’s passion for medicine began early. Growing up, he watched his father, a world-renowned hand surgeon, transform patients’ lives through innovative reconstructive procedures. Witnessing the profound impact that compassionate, skilled medical care could have on a person’s life inspired him to pursue a career in which he could make the same kind of difference for others.
Pulmonary and critical care medicine, in particular, appealed to Dr. Helmi because these specialties offer the opportunity to care for patients at every stage of their journey, whether he is providing outpatient management of chronic lung conditions or caring for hospitalized and critically ill patients. He is driven by a commitment to alleviating suffering and believes patients deserve a physician dedicated to finding answers and providing reassurance during difficult times.
